Taste the difference
First harvest only. Our Ceremonial uses the youngest, most tender leaves of the season, harvested in spring when L-theanine levels peak.
Vibrant, deep green. The weeks of shading before harvest push chlorophyll levels higher, giving the powder its unmistakable colour and antioxidant density.
Smooth and naturally sweet. A delicate, mellow flavour with rich umami and a clean finish. No bitterness, no astringency. Just matcha as it should taste.

Why Ceremonial Matcha?
Ceremonial is our finest matcha. First-harvest Okumidori leaves from Uji, Kyoto give it a smoother, more refined flavour than our Premium. It's beautiful on its own with water, and it also makes a delicious latte if you want the best possible cup.
What's the difference between Ceremonial and Premium?
Ceremonial uses only first-flush leaves, giving it a lighter, sweeter, more delicate flavour. Premium uses first and second flush for a fuller, bolder taste that's great value for daily lattes. Both are high quality. Ceremonial is the upgrade when you want something finer.
Is Ceremonial good for lattes?
Yes. It makes a smoother, more refined latte than Premium. The flavour is subtler and sweeter with milk. It costs more per gram, so it comes down to your personal preference.
How much caffeine is in one serving?
½ teaspoon (1g) contains around 35mg. 1 teaspoon (2g) around 70mg. A cup of coffee has roughly 95mg, but matcha releases it slowly alongside L-theanine for calm, steady energy.
What does it taste like?
Smooth and mellow with natural sweetness and rich umami. No bitterness, no grassiness. A clean, rounded flavour that lingers gently. With milk, the sweetness comes forward and the umami softens into something creamy and balanced.
Why is it more expensive per gram than Premium?
First-harvest leaves are rarer and more labour-intensive. The shading period is longer, the leaves are younger, and the yield per plant is smaller. That produces a finer, more complex flavour, but it costs more to make.
How long does it last?
Check the expiry date on your tin. Once opened, use within one month. Over time the colour fades and the flavour becomes less vibrant.
